What Is a Ninja in Historic Context?

The term ninja (or shinobi) originally referred to covert agents operating under feudal Japan’s shogunates, typically between the 15th and 17th centuries. Unlike samurai, who followed strict honor codes and martial disciplines, ninja were masters of stealth, subterfuge, and unconventional warfare. Their training emphasized camouflage, espionage, sabotage, and the use of ** nausea-specific tools such as shuriken (throwing stars), kunai, smoke bombs, and grappling hooks.
